The Sins That Bleed - 1 Week Until Release 🥀
Art reveals, life tea & what’s next ⭐︎
Hello friends!
Another newsletter is here and you will not be disappointed!
I’ve got some great things to share with you for The Sins That Bleed, including some GORGEOUS art that I’ve been sitting on for a while… 🤪
But before we get into all of that, let me share what else has been going on. So grab a snack or a drink, and let’s get to it!
🖤
The Sins That Bleed - 1 Week To Go 🥀
So my second book comes out in just under a week and I’m… excited!
I loved writing every second of this book (except for the blip in the middle when it nearly didn’t get finished 🤪). I’m so ready for this to be out in the world where it can find it’s readers!
Who doesn’t love a vampire queen who hates asking for help?
With the resurgence of love for vampires in books, film and shows (did it ever really go away?), this book is perfect if you’re looking for your next fix. Think of it as a mash up of Jennifer’s body x Blade.
Two incredible films that are the vibe I was going for in The Sins That Bleed.
And for my Twilight fans, this book will be perfect for Hoa Hoa season or spooky season, whichever one you celebrate 👻
P.S. who’s excited about Twilight coming back to the cinema for the anniversary?! 🙋🏼♀️
Any way, that’s enough of that. How about I show you some artwork instead?
Valeska Beaumont everyone…
I am OBSESSED with this stunning rendition of Valeska by the insanely talented @arthurshahverdyanart?!
I can’t believe I had to sit on this and keep it a secret for so long but finally, I can share her with all of you 🥰
I hope you all fall in love with these characters as much as I have and if you would like to preorder, you can do so here: The Sins That Bleed or anywhere you can buy books ⭐︎
Life Tea ☕️
Now, let me fill you in on everything else I’ve got going on!
I’ve somehow nearly finished writing my third book… 🤔 Yeah, I’m just as blown away as all of you because, what?!
I honestly had a moment where I couldn’t write a single thing that was making me want to get the words down. Around the beginning of summer, I kept opening different manuscripts and writing stuff down but it wasn’t hitting.
Then I had the GENIUS idea to start writing a contemporary romance 🤣 I got around 10K down before I realised it was boring me. I found the genre quite restricting creatively even though it’s one of my favourites to read.
Safe to say I have even more respect for authors who write it because that shit’s hard! I needed the ability to blur the rules of society, to be fantastical and dark.
So naturally, I settled on picking back up the dark horror romance I had written 30k for and here we are. I picked a title, have two strong ideas for the cover and am sitting at around 50K. I anticipate wrapping this up at around 60-70K for the first draft which is pretty on brand for me.
I’ll then plan to add and change a lot more in the next few round but it’s so nice to be back on it. For the story to play out in my mind and the vibe to match what I had in mind.
Some sneaky insight for you on what the book might be about: Think isolated house in the forest, population <500, it’s autumn/fall and there’s something strange about the lake.
To use some emoji’s: 🌲🍂🪓🏚
Now, you might be wondering how I managed to get my life together enough to focus on one manuscript and here’s the secret: reading.
Groundbreaking right? But to be honest, I’ve been in one of the worst reading slumps EVER. It sucked. So I decided to pick a genre I know I love: HORROR.
I read so many good horrors that inspired me to write again so shout out to:
The Night House; Jo Nesbo
Starve Acre; Andrew Michael Hurley
Madhouse; Christopher Artinian
We Used To Live Here; Marcus Kliewer
This Wretched Valley; Jenny Kiefer
Go check these amazing books out if you’re in the mood for something unsettling…
What’s Next? 😏
I’ll be busy writing to finish up this dark horror romance and in the meantime trying to get more readers for The Sins That Bleed.
I’m ready for it to be out in the wild and hope some of you pick it up 🖤
I’m planning to really kick off spooky season with a bang by watching all the classic horrors and reading more horror books.
Do you have any good horror recs?
Well, that’s all friends, thank you for reading and supporting me, it truly makes me want to keep doing this and see you in the next update!
With love,
Jasmine
